our Mission

As a United Methodist Church, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others and do good.

Our Core Convictions

Everyone needs Jesus. Everyone is meant to grow. Everyone is gifted to serve

Love God • Love Others • do Good

I John 4:8 reminds us that "God is Love." At Rock Church, we seek to be a place where you can experience the love of God, share that love with others, and express that love by doing good in the world.

Our Statements of FAith

God

We believe there is one God, known to us in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Father God is Creator, Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and invisible. He is infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness and love, and rules with gracious regard for the well-being and salvation of men, to the glory of his name.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus was the Son of God, through the Holy Spirit He was born of the virgin Mary. We believe that He is the Messiah, "God with us" and was fully God and fully man.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit: the presence of God which lives within each one of us who have faith in Jesus Christ and accept His sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. He comforts, sustains, gifts and empowers the faithful and guides them into all truth.

The Resurrection & eternity

We believe that Jesus Christ lived on this earth, taught us the way, the truth and the light and then, at the appointed time, suffered and died on the cross as a ransom of each one of us. He was buried, and in 3 days rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to be with God the Father. He shall return again to gather the faithful into the presence of God and eternal life where the Kingdom of Heaven will have no end.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word. We believe that all that we need for salvation is found in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible.

Free Will

We acknowledge the sovereignty of God. We also believe in His love for us, God has given the gift of free will. While we seek God’s guidance and direction for our lives, God does not determine our actions. We are free to make our own decisions, and are responsible for our actions. This free will includes the ability to accept or reject Jesus as the leader of our lives and the forgiver of our sins.

SALVATION By Faith Alone

Everyone needs Jesus and we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus. The first step in our faith journey is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This first step is often called “Justification or Justifying Grace”. No amount of good works can save us.

Discipleship & Sanctification

Following our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we begin a lifelong process of becoming more Christ-like. Everyone is meant to grow, and at Rock Church, we believe in discipleship through the study of God's word, the Bible, in the gathering of his people in LifeGroups and the praising of His name in worship, this process is called sanctification.

GOOD WORKS

Having accepted Christ, we will want to express our faith by good works as everyone is gifted to serve. However, these good works are not a means to salvation.

Ministry of all believers

Because we are all gifted and empowered by the Holy Spirit, each of us has a calling to express those gifts as a part of the work of Christ and His Church. Therefore we are all ministers of the Gospel.

Baptism

We believe Baptism signifies entrance into the household of faith, and is a symbol of repentance and inner transformation from sin, a representation of the new birth in Christ Jesus and a mark of Christian discipleship.

Communion

At Rock Church, we have an open communion table. You don't have to be a member of Rock Church or any UMC church to receive communion, all are welcome. You just need to be one who loves Jesus and receives His sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins.

Prayer

Prayer is communion with God. It is the closest, most intimate relationship with the Creator we can have. In prayer the depths of your spirit are in communion with the Holy Spirit of God. Out of our humble petitions, confessions, praises and thanksgivings may come instruction, guidance, freedom, peace, joy, calling and more! The Apostle Paul encouraged us to "pray without ceasing" 1 Thes 5:17
